Shelby is a recent High School Graduate (2020), the first class to graduate from the Health Care Occupations program. She earned the Heath Care Occupations Spirit Award for her student mentorship. During her four years in the Health Care Occupations Shelby had the opportunity to assist with patient’s overall care and comfort, which might include bathing, dressing, feeding and monitoring their vital signs; take medical histories; collect and prepare lab specimens; perform basic tests and update medical records.

Shelby completed her BLS CPR/First Aid certification (2019), CNA Certification (2020), American Red Cross Babysitting Certification (2014).
Internships Included Lawrence General Hospital, Hannah Dustin HealthCare Center & Birthing Gently.

Shelby has experience working with young children in Fitness Childcare Centers, and experience working in Senior Living facilities as an activities assistant. Shelby has a natural calm, compassionate and nurturing approach to her care.
As the second oldest of five siblings she has gained great personal experience. Growing up in hospitals with siblings who have/had childhood cancer, congenital heart disease, intellectual disability, and being the daughter of Birthing Gently's owner.. the medical field seemed like a natural calling!
Shelby will complete her DONA International Postpartum Doula training (2020), and will attend nursing school in the fall (2020).

Shelby is currently working alongside the Birthing Gently staff providing support services to our postpartum families as a child care specialist, and currently taking new clients for daytime support only.
