Margaret Walker, Birth Doula (MassHealth Provider)

Margaret Walker (she/they) is a caretaker and nurturer who invests deeply in her communities. They are currently living their values by working as a Personal Care Assistant and engaging in an intentional community in Jamaica Plain. Margaret has experience with health equity and education through her work at The Family Van, a mobile health clinic that improves access to screenings and resources with a holistic and relationship-centered approach. They know firsthand the immense and transformative impact that accompaniment and presence can have on individuals, families, and communities.
Margaret is thrilled to be able to provide this support during the joyful, unique, and complex birthing process. She has felt called to birthwork ever since she was a teenager and recently completed her training with Tara through Birthing Gently. As someone with a background in Anthropology, Margaret is inspired by the long history of humans helping each other through pregnancy and delivery, and is honored to play a role in this critical, incredible work.
Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Margaret is a lifelong learner who is interested in the intersections of ecological connection, spirituality, and social change. In their free-time, they can be found growing/working with plants and herbs, spending time outside, reading, and baking. She also has over 14 years of experience as a tap dancer!
