Birth Doula Profile - Marie Doucette CD(DONA)
Marie has had a lifelong fascination with the miracle of pregnancy, birth, and babies. It continues to amaze her how a baby is formed, developing and growing within the mother. She is always astonished by the way a mother’s body then performs the incredible task of birthing that child. There are so many remarkable things in this world, but Marie finds birth the most amazing. Not only is a child born, but also parents are made, families are formed, and a love that one never knew existed emerges.
Marie became a birth doula because she felt very passionate about working with people during this special time in their lives. During labor and delivery, she provides support physically with various comfort measures and provides emotional support with reassurance, encouragement, and education. Each birth Marie attends provides her with a learning experience that is as unique as each baby. She has supported women during natural childbirth, epidurals, and both unplanned and scheduled cesarean sections (c-sections). Marie’s goal is to help you feel empowered by meeting your specific needs and to help you have a satisfying birth.
Marie resides in Exeter, New Hampshire. She has 4 children and 2 grandchildren. She had three natural births and an augmented, medicated birth. She has also experienced three early miscarriages. Marie possesses deep compassion and understanding for women and families that have experienced fertility issues and loss.
Her compassionate personality and love for people enables Marie to be an effective communicator. She finds this very helpful when she connects with mothers as they develop a birth plan together. Marie looks forward to working with you and your family!
