Donna Marie Connor, married mother of two wonderful children, joins Birthing Gently Doula Services, bringing with her years of experience working with families, mothers, infants and children as a Pediatric Medical Assistant, Certified Lactation Counselor, and Postpartum Doula.
As a Pediatric Medical Assistant, She enjoyed the time she spent with both infants and children alike and her caring nature soothed many nervous mothers and children. Donna has been serving in the public sector as a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) with a local WIC program for 15 years. She has enjoyed counseling prenatal and postpartum mothers regarding the fine art of breastfeeding. She has taught private and group infant feeding classes and has aided many families with choosing how to feed their babies. Donna trained and received her certification from the Center for Breastfeeding of East Sandwich, MA, a focus of the Healthy Children Project, Inc.
Donna always has an encouraging word and offers loving support for new mothers and their families. Also, Donna breastfed her own two children and this experience contribute to her understanding of nursing families.
She trained to be a Postpartum Doula through DONA International.. Her tender care of babies, soft way with new mothers, and attentiveness to the little details show her compassion for the adjustment of new parenthood. She is currently seeking certification as an educator in The Happiest Baby Program which deals with soothing techniques for infant colic. She looks forward to helping the family find a harmonious new sense of normal with their baby. She will nurture the new mother with physical and emotional comfort measures, while assisting her to discover her baby's cues, entertaining siblings, performing light housework activities, and general organizing in the home.
She looks forward to easing your family through the "fourth trimester", or first three months baby is home.
