The Heart to Heart Program

The Heart to Heart Program was founded in 2003 by Tara Poulin in an effort to help support Children’s Hospital Boston. This program was developed to help raise money for Children’s Hospital Boston in an effort to support their dedication to the families we serve. The families we service deliver at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and receive care through the advanced fetal care center at Children’s Hospital Boston.

Birthing Gently is a Doula service with a special interest in high risk deliveries. Many of the clients we work with are expecting babies with various fetal anomalies, some minor, others life threatening and unfortunately some Grave. We work closely with these families to bring them some sense of wellbeing, to feel continuously supported, empowered and to help preserve a positive birth experience in such a time of need.

Our Doulas form great bonds with these families well before the birth. These families are faced with a different set of challenges than most expectant families. In helping them to plan prenataly for the birth of their baby we provide education and support leading up to the birth and sequence of events to follow. We often find the family feeling well supported medically but isolated and emotionally unsupported. Some families are local, but many are from other parts of the country or outside the U.S. and have no family and friends nearby.

Birthing Gently has supported children’s hospital in many areas (NSTAR walk for children’s hospital Boston, Miles for Miracles, and the Mix 104.1 cares for kids radiation, along with personal donations). Please help support our Doula babies; we deeply appreciate your continued support and donations.
